How to Downgrade your iPhone/iPad from iOS 12 to iOS 11
Apple has released two developer beta version of iOS 12. iOS 12 makes many old devices run much faster, so the iOS users can't wait to upgrade their devices to iOS 12 even if it's just a developer beta version. As a beta version, it contains bugs and issues more or less, for example, some of my apps crashed, and some apps can't load pictures, and what's worse, in some cases, it shorten our device battery life. Of course, these issues might get fixed on next follow-up versions, so we recommend that don't upgrade to iOS 12 beta version with your daily use iOS device, but an alternative device. Anyway, if you've encountered some issues with iOS 12, you can choose to return to a much stable version of iOS 11. And currently the only version you are able to downgrade your device to is iOS 11.4.1. And you can simply follow this tutorial to make it.
How to Downgrade iOS 12 to iOS 11
If you installed the iOS 12 beta version and now want to restore your device, we recommend you to follow Apple's official page to downgrade your iOS version. Otherwise, please follow the steps below:
Step 1. Backup your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Match up your device model, then download the iOS 11.4.1 IPSW file for your idevice to your computer.
Step 3. Make sure you have latest version of iTunes installed on your computer and start it, connect your iPhone/iPad to computer with an USB cable.
Step 4. After iTunes detected your idevice successfully, head over to the left panel of iTunes, click on the device icon, then:
- For Windows version: SHIFT + click the "Restore" button
- For Mac version: OPTION + click the "Restore" button
Step 5. Choose the iOS 11.4.1 IPSW file downloaded to restore to your idevice.
After the above steps done and wait for a while, unlock your idevice with your password. And your idevice will be downgraded to iOS 11.4.1 successfully. You can then set your idevice as a new one or restore the previous backup file to your idevice. Of course, you can update to the latest iOS version whenever you want.
Note: Please take note that due to Apple's security settings, the backup made on higher iOS version is not supported to be restored to the device that running lower iOS version. For example, if you backed up your device on iOS 12, and downgrade your device to iOS 11, the backup made now can not be restored to your device.
